Cathal Heffernan
Cathal Heffernan had a spell on loan at AC Milan in January

An Irish teenager has joined AC Milan after a successful loan spell.

At the end of January, the Italian club exercised their option to sign the teenager on a permanent deal after he moved on loan.

He was the captain of the Republic of Ireland's Under 17 team.

He played his first match in March.

Heffernan joined the League of Ireland's premier division club from Ringmahon Rangers in the summer of 2019.

"Cathal has done well while on loan and is now getting the chance to sign permanently," said Liam Kearney, the head of academy.

He is getting this opportunity because of his hard work and dedication, as well as the work put in by his coaches at Ringmahon Rangers and here at our academy.

Rob and Marian competed in the women's 4400m relay at the London 2012 Olympics.
