WB has a problem that will not be solved by time travel or multiverse traversal. The star of the movie, Ezra Miller, has become a huge liability due to his erratic and dangerous behavior.
The studio has tried to get Miller help, but the situation is not improving, and they have some decisions to make about the movie, according to a new report. Cutting publicity for it but keeping it in theaters is one way to do that.
Miller will not be returning to the role of Barry Allen after what he has already filmed, regardless of what happens next.
According to sources, the studio won't keep Miller in the role if more allegations are made. There is still a $200 million investment on the line with the first film and Warner Bros executives have to be cringing at every new press report.
Right now, the continuation of what is seen as the official DCEU in general does not seem like a sure thing, as there are other reports that WB is planning a larger remake of DC projects. WB just spawned a new sub-universe with The Batman that they are very much enamored with, so it's not clear if this would be Miller being recast, or just time for a Barry Allen remake in one of these other sub- universes.
This will follow the conclusion of the final season of The CW's The FLASH. The idea that he should replace Miller as Barry Allen, given what a good job he has done so far, has been gaining steam recently. It would be weird to pull Gustin over to the DCEU without his supporting cast and universe, due to the fact that Allen wants to stop being The Flash with the show winding down. Who doesn't know?
WB is in a situation where there are no good options and they have already been dealing with a variant of this with the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard saga. Fans want Heard to be removed from the role of Meera in the sequel because of the recent trials and decision in her favor. Heard's camp has denied rumors that she has been cut out.
Miller isn't talking about Barry Allen or the flash. The authorities are trying to locate and catch them after they deleted their social media accounts.
One way or another, we will see Miller in TheFlash next year. We will probably never see them in the role again. Given the way things are going, it's not likely to be too many.
