There is a new tool that you may want to check out before you go outside this summer.

In order to make more informed decisions about whether it's safe to go on a hike or other outdoor adventures, a tool has been introduced by the company.

Governmental agencies use the air quality layer tool to inform the public about how polluted it is. Currently only available in the U.S., the Environmental Protection Agency's data will be displayed on the maps.

The data from Purple Air can be found on the internet.

How to check air quality on Google Maps

This is the first thing. Either hit the arrow button in the bottom right of the screen to find your location or type in the location you want to visit in the search bar.

There are three. Under Map details, you can choose "air quality"

There are four. You can get up-to-date information about what it's like outside in your location by viewing the index on the internet.
