The story is already done. Mauricio Pochettino's second spell in Paris has come to an end 18 months after he arrived as a very ambitious manager. He is to be fired a few weeks after winning the title.

His tenure will always carry that awful feeling of "what could have been" because the "reunion" never worked out. Marriage is difficult and at times uncomfortable because of too many issues. Who goes from here?

What went wrong? Away form, lack of authority, Messi tension

If you want to succeed in Paris, you have to be a very good manager, but you also have to be able to communicate. The team needs to play well. It's not just about winning, but winning with style, which was not the case during his time at the Parc des Princes.

He fell short of dealing with all the politics within the club, which is arguably where he fell most short.

Many decision-makers are interfering with the decisions of the club's owners, including the club president. A lot of people want to be satisfied and a lot of expectations to be met. The dressing room feels like a nest of vipers with the pressure of a big club.

Other managers have struggled in this environment, including Unai Emery. He had a bad relationship with Leonardo. With their roles at the club, they needed to be rock solid, but Leonardo was chosen by the emir, not the other way around. They were both Argentines and Brazilians who had different views of football.

One of the main reasons for the tension is that he didn't feel like he had complete authority over his dressing room. Sometimes he wanted to take strong action after a first-team player disrespects the rules. He was told to leave twice. It's difficult to manage a team if you don't have the authority.

The poor spectacle on the pitch was one of the factors that led to his downfall. The numbers were not as good as they could've been: 86 points, 90 goals scored and 36 conceded. When they finished second behind Kylian Mbappe's AS Monaco, they recorded 92 points. They scored more goals and gave up less.

They rarely played attractive football with a clear tactical direction, and the total passivity of the manager in the face of adversity was one of the reasons for their poor results. Paris had won the previous five years in a row in the French Cup, but they were knocked out of it by Nice in the last 16.

The away record was abysmal. In Ligue 1 last season, Paris Saint-Germain did not win on the road at any of the top nine teams. It's simply not good enough with a squad filled with superstars.

Who's next for PSG: Galtier or Zidane?

The drama around who will succeed Mauricio Pochettino in the manager's job will keep the fans and followers of Paris Saint-Germain interested.

There are two people that are in the running. He is the perfect hire for the emir ofQatar. The best candidate for the job is the former France and Real Madrid player. He hasn't decided to join the club. He has his eyes on the France job, which could be available in December after the World Cup, and he knows that the project in Paris is difficult.

It is unlikely that it will be him, but there is still hope that he will take the job. It's not hard to see why Zidane is so popular with the Madrid dressing room: he has three victories in a row and two LaLiga titles to his name.

The other option is that of Galtier, who won the French title with Lille in 2021. According to reports, he is desperate for the job and has already talked to Campos about taking over. Despite a slightly disappointing season at Nice, he is one of the best French managers in the world.

Nice are said to be okay with him leaving and an agreement shouldn't take too long. Galtier is hard-working and focused, with great man-management skills, though his playing style may be an issue for fans of Paris Saint-Germain.

Where does Pochettino goes from here?

He wants to return to England. His wife stayed in London while he was in Paris. One of his sons, Sebastiano, was the fitness coach in his staff and is to be fired as well, while the other, Maurizio, was released when the Hornets were demoted from the premier league.

Mauricio should find a club in the premier league. He was hoping to get a chance at Manchester United, but they chose a different player. All of the Big Six now have stability on the sidelines, so there is only one other option at the top of the table.

If either of the jobs became available, would he take a lesser club? It depends on the offer and the project. Will he wait for Antonio to leave so he can try to make a comeback? At the moment, that is not likely.

Is it possible to ask about in the rest of Europe? His reputation in Spain is still high. He spoke with Florentino Perez a lot. If he were still looking for a job, his name would definitely be on the table. The difficult time at Paris Saint-Germain did not tarnish his reputation.

Some really good offers will be forthcoming. Will they arrive this summer? He will have to watch.
