In order to avoid a conflict of interest, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas should not be involved in any cases relating to January 6 or the House select committee's investigation.
After the committee asked to interview the wife of Justice Clarence Thomas and a conservative activist who has faced criticism over her involvement with efforts to overturn the 2020 election, a member of the committee appeared on CNN.
Justice Thomas should not have anything to do with any of the cases relating to January 6.
"We want our justices to uphold a standard that goes beyond what's lawful or illegal, to avoid even the appearance of a conflict or impropriety," he said.
The Washington Post reported last week that a Trump lawyer drafted a memo detailing how to overturn the election. The Post reported that Ginni Thomas had urged 29 Arizona lawmakers to appoint pro-Trump electors despite Biden's win in the state.
We would like to know what she knows. "What her involvement was in the plan to overturn the election?" asked Schiff.
He said that the committee wanted to know if Justice Thomas had discussed this with the committee.
CNN host Dana Bash asked if the answer turns out to be yes and if the congressman would join calls for Justice Clarence Thomas to resign. He said he wouldn't be involved in January 6 cases.
The Supreme Court didn't respond to Insider's requests for comment.
