According to a new Gallup poll, the percentage of Americans who say they believe in God has fallen to the lowest level in 80 years. 81% of people said they believe in God according to the Values and Belief survey. The percentage of people who said they believed in God dropped from the previous year's survey. This is the lowest percentage Gallup has asked the question in the last 70 years. A majority of Americans don't believe in God. 98% of respondents said they believed in God when they were asked the question first in 1944. Almost all of Americans said they believed in God in 2011. The number of Americans who think the US has a bad reputation has hit a record high. This year's survey found that belief in God had fallen to 81%, which is roughly where it stood before this year. The belief in God has fallen the most among young adults and people on the left of the political spectrum. The groups show drops of 10 or more percentage points compared to the average of the polls over the last three years. Conservatives and married adults have had no change, according to the polling company. Liberals, young adults and Democrats are the groups that are least likely to believe in God. According to Gallup, faith in God is the most important factor in determining political divisions in the U.S.
