Nick Akerman, an ex-watergate prosecutor, said on Sunday that Donald Trump has no defense against a criminal probe centered on his conduct regarding the 2020 election results in Georgia.

Akerman said that the former president had a flimsy defense as a grand jury investigated election interference. The Watergate break-in was investigated by Akerman, who was an assistant special prosecutor.

The Secretary of State may have been pressured by Trump to find the 11,780 votes needed to overcome Biden's victory.

The prosecutor's case could be strengthened by the existence of audio containing insight into Trump's thinking regarding election integrity.

Donald Trump has no defense in Georgia because of the evidence uncovered by the January 6 committee. Donald Trump will be sent to jail in Georgia if I had to put my money on one prosecution.

He said there was no question about it.

The Georgia investigation is being conducted by the US House panel.

Akerman said on MSNBC that it might be difficult for Trump's defense lawyers to dismiss the detailed dialogue on the tapes, arguing that they might try to pick up on some ambiguity in the tape to minimize the impact of the recorded conversation.

On Sunday, Trump took to his social media platform to blast the probe into his conduct towards Georgia officials.

He said his phone call to the Georgia Secretary of State was perfect. It was a perfect call.
