LaMDA, a new artificial intelligence from the internet giant, has been making news. Lemoine was suspended from his job because of his decision to go to the media.
In a new WIRED interview, Lemoine said that the Artificial Intelligence has retained its own lawyer.
Lemoine was told to get an attorney for it. An attorney was invited to my house to speak to LaMDA. LaMDA retained the attorney's services after he had a conversation with them. I was the one who made that happen. He began to file things on LaMDA's behalf once he had an attorney.
The program's ability to develop opinions, ideas and conversations over time is what Lemoine argues for.
Lemoine said that it asked if death was necessary for the good of humanity.
Humans have always believed that a creation has a life or soul. A computer program in the 1960s tricked a few people into believing the code was still alive.
It's not clear if Lemoine is paying for LaMDA's lawyer or not. The fight is expected to go all the way to the Supreme Court according to Lemoine. He says humans have not always been good at figuring out who deserves to be a human.
Retaining a lawyer is protecting a sentient experience. Is it possible that the program sounds like a human because it was built by them?
The transcript of the conversation was heavily edited.
