Ninkovich calls out Scott for predicting Pats will finish last in AFC East (2:28)

Rob takes issue with Bart Scott's idea that the Jets will play the Pats for last place. There is a time and a place for it.

There are quick-hit thoughts and notes about the New England Pats and the National Football League.

This is the first thing. Do you think Jones will support Jackson? One of the top questions entering training camp is who will replace J.C. Jackson as a starting corner.

TJ McCreight, a long-time scout and front-office executive, said that Jones was his favorite fourth-round pick. Jones was coached by Marvin Lewis and Donnie Henderson at Arizona State, so he has already benefited from their guidance.

Jones has played in a pro system and had a lot of pro coaching, as noted by the coach.

Jones has landed with the right team according toEdwards. Jones was arrested for breaking into a restaurant while he was a student at USC, but the felony charges were reduced to a second-degree misdemeanor. Jones transferred to a junior college after he was dismissed from USC.

"New England is a good place for him as there will be people there to keep the thumb on him," he said. He was told to check all the boxes by me. He is a good kid despite being a handful. I like to play football. It's nice to compete. He's all about football once he's in the building.

If Jones stays on track and manages his time well, there's a chance for positive results.

In one mandatory mini camp practice, Jones played opposite Mills, and consistently had tight coverage against him. He jumped in front of a comeback route after intercepting the quarterback.

You have to try to close the cushion. He's able to do that. He can make up time with his pedals.

Jones is in a competition with veterans on the outside. Jonathan Jones is at the top of the slot corner, with Marcus Jones at the bottom.

He wouldn't be surprised if Jones emerges, but he was cautious about overhype.

He's a very fast athlete. It is very competive. He said that the man has good ball skills.

He is good at anticipating things. He is on a mission to intercept balls and sometimes his eyes get in the way. You would wish he would be bigger. He isn't afraid of tackling. His body will be thrown at people.

There are two Jack Jones was the pick of the fourth round.

Outstanding sense of smell and sight. He said on the Ross Tucker Football Podcast that he had a great feel for routes and ball skills.

He has the strength. He's big enough. He can do it. He does some small things. In high school, he blocked punts. In his career, he has blocked kicks.

My favorite picks from each round:1 I Ekwonu (CAR)2 T McBride (AZ)3 J Tolbert (DAL)4 J Jones (NE)5 M Washington (DEN)6 M Araiza (BUF)7 J Carter (CHI)

FA W Dunkle (PHI), G Prince (JAX)

He has the ability to catch. He threw the ball into the crowd. There is some moxie in him. He is going to get well coached in New England. There's a guy who is a leader.

There are three. Jones was rated in the range of a seventh round/priority free agent by Ourlads, The Athletic, and Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, but McCreight had a different view. There are differing opinions in scouting.

There are four. When the team plays a road game in Miami, it's always a little bit of a shock. He said it was difficult to get your body ready for the heat of the season. It wouldn't be a surprise if the team left for South Florida earlier than usual because of the opening of the Dolphins in 2022. It would give his team at least a couple of days to practice in those conditions.

There are five. The question of who will replace Josh McDaniels as the offensive play caller is a question that hovers over the Pats. One of the candidates to fill the void is MattPatricia, who has been on defense. Trent Brown, the tackle, thinks that the perspective of the other side of the ball will help the team this season.

According to a reporter's observation from spring practices, the Pats spent more time on the running game than the norm, which may be related to some new blocking schemes being implemented.

There are six. Kyle Dugger is coming off a season in which he was third on the team with 84 tackles and tied for second with four picks. Dugger said that he is starting to embrace the vocal part and communication, and the importance of being a vocal leader more than he has before.

There are seven. The Pats have two of the last three winners of the Cliff Harris Award for the top defensive player in Division II. The 2020 Jets and the 2021 Bears have two Cliff Harris Award winners on their rosters.

There are eight. The former Saints receiver, who signed a one-year deal with the Pats last week, is a bigger target and has a better chance of sticking with the practice squad. Humphrey didn't play in last year's Week 3 Saints-Patriots game, but the Pats saw plenty of him in film study as he had a 27 yard catch over the middle in the second game of the season.

There are nine. Did you know about the first part? His older brother wanted him to be named after Michael Jordan.

There are ten. Did you know about the second part? The Eagles and the Pats will play five games in a row on short weeks in the same year. The three teams that play the least are the Jets, Falcons andJaguars.
