Mookie Betts is going to be on the injured list, according to Dave Roberts.

Roberts scratched Betts from the lineup for the second game in a row, but said previously that he didn't expect the injury to be serious and that the star center fielder was in line for an exam.

Roberts said after the Los Angeles victory that the rib was cracked and that a return date would be determined. The transaction will take place on Sunday.

The loss will be significant even if the injury is a small break. The San Diego Padres are battling for first place in the National League West with the help of a.270 batting average by M. Betts.

One of the best players in baseball is being taken out of the lineup. It's a big blow, but at least we know what we're dealing with and we're going to get him back soon.

During Wednesday night's game against the Los Angeles Angels, Betts was hurt when he collided with Bellinger while trying to steal second base. Betts was in that game. We will know more a week from now.

Without Betts, Los Angeles pitchers limited Cleveland to two hits in a six-run victory.

The left-handed pitcher, who had gone 0-3 with a 3.09 earned run average in his last four outings, gave up an unearned run on two hits with six strikeouts and two walks.

The Dodgers are without four starting pitchers due to injury.

Roberts doesn't want to refer to Murphy's Law but it has been that way. You have to move on. The season is a long one.
