Sources say the Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to hire Atlanta Hawks assistant Chris Jent as their top assistant coach.

Sources said that Jent was made a priority by Ham after he got the Lakers job.

Jent, who played collegiately at Ohio State before playing briefly in the NBA as well as overseas, had served as an assistant with the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2006 to 2011.

James once said he "loved" working with Jent and that he was a personal shooting coach for the four-time NBA Most Valuable Player.

He will join a staff that already includes assistants Phil Handy and Quinton Crawford as holdovers from previous coach Frank Vogel's time on the sideline.

Jent has been a coach for over 20 years. In addition to his stops in Atlanta and Cleveland, Jent has also worked in the NBA, the G League and the NCAA.
