Dr. Rochelle Walensky is expected to approve the vaccines soon.

A panel of scientific advisors backed a two-dose version of Moderna's vaccine for ages 6 months to 5 years and a three-dose Pfizer-bioNTech vaccine regimen for ages 6 months to 4 years.

Once Walensky gives the go-ahead, a large-scale vaccine roll-out will begin, paving the way for the first immunizations of young children next week.

The shots from Pfizer- BioNTech and Moderna cleared several regulatory hurdles over the past few days, but young children are still ineligible for a Covid vaccine. The shots were recommended by a Food and Drug Administration advisory panel. Moderna has a vaccine for children that only contains one-fourth the dose of an adult shot.

After pre-ordering shots from the federal government, forty-nine states are set to get shots quickly. Only Florida missed the pre-order deadline.

What To Watch For

According to a Kaiser Family Foundation poll, a lot of parents are hesitant to get their kids vaccinations. Only 18% of people said they would get their kids vaccinations immediately.

A FDA panel endorsed Moderna and Pfizer Covid vaccines for young children.

The FDA allows covid vaccines for children as young as six months.

Florida will be able to buy covid vaccines for kids 5 and younger.
