  • The Meta Avatars Store will offer digital clothing that can be purchased for Meta avatars starting next week in a few countries.
  • Balenciaga, Prada, and Thom Browne will be the first designer brands in the store when it launches.
  • The avatar clothes can be used across Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram with VR coming soon.

The company will be launching a marketplace next week that will sell clothes for its characters. Some of the new fashion options were shown off by Eva Chen on the live show.

Users will be able to pay real money for brand-name clothes that they can wear across Facebook, Messenger, and other social media sites. The store will be home to three designer brands. There are still free items in the store.

"We're launching our Avatars Store on Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger so you can buy digital clothes to style your avatar," he wrote. Digital goods will be a big driver of the creative economy.

Next week, the store will be available in the US, Canada, Thailand, and Mexico. Meta plans to bring it to virtual reality through its Meta Quest headsets in the future.

Earlier this year, Meta added 3D models to its models on Facebook and Messenger. More skin tones, hearing aids, and wheelchairs are included in the update for the 3D avatars in virtual reality. There is a way for users to represent Facebook, Messenger, and other platforms in different ways.
