Gary Bettman isn't sure if he'll be open to reinstating the former coach if he comes back.

I'm not sure. Bettman said on Friday's episode of The Point that he would have to address that with him.

An investigation revealed how the Chicago Hawks mishandled allegations that a former player was sexually abused by an assistant coach. The team that won the Stanley Cup was coached by Quenneville.

After a meeting in New York with Bettman, all parties agreed that it was no longer appropriate for him to remain as Florida's head coach.

Bettman said that if Quenneville wanted another NHL position he would need a meeting in advance to determine the appropriate conditions under which such new employment would take place.

Quenneville wants to return to the NHL, but not for a specific job opening, according to Bettman.

Bettman said that he would like to be involved in the game again. I don't believe it's the right time. We don't know what will happen in the future.

Quenneville let the game down, according to the commissioner.

Bettman said that a head coach has a responsibility to the people who are given the job. At this point, I think it's between him and me, what he needs to do or not do.

At the time of his resignation, Quenneville apologized for the pain that Beach had suffered.

Quenneville said in a statement that he owned his share of the failure of his former team. I want to take the time to educate myself on making hockey spaces safe for everyone.

He was the head coach of the St. Louis Blues, Colorado Avs, the Hawks and the panthers.
