I have good news for you, if you ever wondered, "I would like my digital avatars to wear poorly rendered designer clothing."
Meta is launching an online store where people can buy digital clothing for themselves. A motocross outfit, a logo hoodie, and suits are some of the clothes on offer at the store.
More brands will be added soon, according to a post by Meta CEO Mark Zuck.
He says that digital goods will be an important way to express yourself in the metaverse.
Technology companies are partnering with luxury fashion houses. Last year, players were able to purchase branded hoodies for their character in the game. Gucci Town has a garden with the brand's logo and a virtual store in the game.
The company didn't respond to a request for more information, despite the big names in Meta's launch. Information on how users will access the store wasn't immediately available. The digital clothes might be cheaper than the real thing. Eva Chen, director of fashion partnerships at the photo-sharing site, showed off a look that included a white belt, low-rise jeans, and a t-shirt on a live stream.
He doesn't know if he could have pulled that off. I agree.
