Police in Virginia Beach, Virginia arrested two men for an allegedly Robin Hoodesque crime: they say the suspects hacked a local gas station while it was closed to get cheap fuel, then sold it to other people in the community.
There were devices used to access gas pumps. The individuals were selling the gasoline at a discounted rate through a phone application and had advertised the operation on social media. Thousands of dollars worth of gasoline was taken from the business.
Business owners were told to review their security footage to see if gas had been stolen from them.
It is difficult to know what to think. Gas stations aren't the most secure pieces of technology. The cops don't always tell the truth.
It's odd that the drivers lined up at the gas station to purchase gas didn't seem to have been arrested or even mentioned in the release. Locals aren't upset about the duo's entrepreneurial spirit.
A person commented on the city police department's Facebook page and praised the boys. They are giving back to their community. People are having a hard time getting to and from work due to the high gas prices. The boys are okay in my opinion.
Nobody seemed to be calling for the book to be thrown at the culprits.
As gas stations run out of fuel, Americans are buying more gas than they need.
