After upsetting fans at BlizzCon with the announcement of a new game, they came to the convention to show off a new one. We have seen a few trailers, concept art, and a couple of long demos. We were given some more information, including a look at a new class, but we are still waiting for more details about the game. The new title needs a lot of development time before hitting the market.

Lillith looking really mean.

The recent showing at the Microsoft and Bethesda showcase where we simply got a 2023 release window, which falls in line with what we already knew, is the latest update we have on the release date of the game.

The official statement stated, "These are two of the most eagerly anticipated titles in the industry, and our teams have made great strides towards completion in recent quarters, but we believe giving the teams some extra time to complete production and continue growing their game is the right thing to do."

We know that there will be a PC, PS4 and PS5 release for the game, but we don't know if it will work on the Nintendo Switch.

Trailer

The official trailer for Diablo 4 was released in 2019. There isn't much known about the story at the moment. Lilith will be coming back, although we don't know what her role will be. Whether or not she is heavily ingrained in the narrative remains to be seen. The game will focus more on the world of Sanctuary and its people after the third game in the series.

Fractured Peaks, Dry Steppes, Hawezar, Scosglen, and Kehjistan will be explored by Sanctuary. Snow, desert, swamp, beach, and ruins are different environments.

The official trailer for the game was shown at the conference. The trailer only focused on the systems present in the game and did not include any new elements.

Multiplayer

Even though the game leans heavily into an always-online format, the company insists that it's not an online game. You will find other players hunkered down in towns and trekking across the open world from quest to quest, but key sections will be populated by just you and your party. Online and local co-op are priorities for the game, but we don't know much about cross-play. The level of your team will affect the difficulty of the game. This will allow you to play with your friends regardless of their level.

The world feels less dangerous when other players are in high numbers, according to the game director. While tackling some of the open-world events that feature massive bosses and hordes of enemies is foolish, teaming up with other players will be important.

There are five classes that can be played in Diablo 4. The footage shows a return to the dark, brooding graphics of the first game in the series. The action looks the same no matter what class you're in. You can see all the trailers here.

There are new items in the game. The players will be able to upgrade their non-legendary weapons to legend. The idea is to allow players to keep playing with the weapon they like, without having to switch to a more powerful item.

The inventory system is being reworked in order to make it easier to free up space.

The details of how character customization will work in the game were given in the trailer. According to the video, players will be able to modify their skin tone, hair, tattoos, and more. Most of the time, we won't be able to see the details from the high-angle camera, and it will be covered up by armor most of the time. We'll be able to rep our favorite colors thanks to armor dyes. During the game's in-game cutscenes, you'll be able to see these options.

This time around, the world will be fully open, which will allow for more player choice in how they progress through the world and tackle the over 150 dungeons scattered around the regions. New strongholds will allow players to capture and transform into a town and possibly a dungeon. In a world event, you and other players will be asked to team up to tackle huge bosses. The shared world will be kept populated and it will be easier to team up with friends in the new game.

It will be dedicated to zones, with players who do well being marked and given extra rewards for bringing them down.

We learned more about how skills and statistics will work. There is a huge skill tree for players to navigate. New skills, skill enhancements, and Passive Points are included on the tree. You will only be able to unlocked 40% of the tree with any given character, meaning you will need to plan your build before assigning points. There is a wide degree of flexibility built into the system.

The Enchantment System is a second system that Sorceresses have to contend with. They can turn an active ability into a passive one by placing it in the Enchantment Slot. Although you won't be able to use the active spell during combat, this will grant you a new passive skill.

There are three new stats revealed by the company.

  • Angelic Power: Impacts length of beneficial effects on self.
  • Ancestral Power: Impacts the chance of conferring a status effect.
  • Demonic Power: Impacts length of negative effects on enemies.

They have been described as being part of a family by the company. There are three families of enemies that will share combat styles in the game. The cannibal family focuses on a variety of melee types with no attackers.

The Fields of Hatred are where you should go if you want to play more in the game. Anyone can fight and kill any other player in these areas. Why do you want to test your character against other people? There are items called Shards of Hatred. You can swap these for unique items only if you bring them to an altar and cleanse them. You lose them all if you die before cashing them in.

Pre-order

A creepy and misty forest.
