The Pay Over Time enroll bonus may have been targeted by Amex. Check again if you weren't targeted last time. Check your other cards if you were targeted. You don't have to change your default to the card you want to check before you click the link. If you switch between the different cards on your account, you can see if any have been targeted.

American Express sends out bonus offers of up to 30,000 points for signing up for pay over time. A charge card can be used more like a credit card by paying off balances over time. You don't have to apply the bonus to any charges or balances in order to get it.

Normally those targeted receive an e-mail or find the offer listed in their account, but the most recent offer of 20,000 points has a link that allows anyone to check and see if they're targeted The AMEX charge cards are some of the easiest to earn membership rewards on.

The Deal

  • Earn 20,000 Membership Rewards by enrolling a targeted charge card in Pay Over Time.

If you have a direct link, check to see if you are targeted.

You are not targeted.

Quick Thoughts

Since you don't have to use the feature to earn 20,000 points, it will be the easiest 20,000 points you've ever earned. There are a few things to think about.

  • Once the points have been awarded, make sure to unenroll the card so that you are eligible to be targeted again (see Stephen’s post on how to do it). If you have cards currently enrolled in Pay Over Time, get them unenrolled pronto.
  • When you reach the landing page, you will be prompted to log-in. The card that you will be checking is your default/starred card only. If that card isn’t showing an offer, switch to another card and checking the landing page again. It is possible to have some cards targeted and not others.

The rewards will be in your favor.
