Although no further details were revealed about the show, the plans mark a surprising evolution for the show after it ends. The long past of the George R.R. Martin fantasy franchise has been the focus of all of the network's attempts to keep the series going. This Jon Snow idea is the first to go beyond Martin's long-awaited conclusion to his novels, and into the series' unknown, while other potential follow-ups like an adaptation of Martin's Dunk & Egg stories are all firmly in the past.
