According to a report from Electrek, a wave of layoffs atTesla may affect hourly workers, despite a company-wide email from Musk on June 3rd that said "Tesla will be reducing salaried headcount by 10% as we have become overstaffed in many areas." Musk said on June 4th that there would be an increase in the number of employees, but that there would be no increase in the number of people working in the office.

The email went out clarifying the situation after initial reports of Musk telling company executives it would need to reduce headcount by 10 percent overall and pause hiring worldwide due to his "super bad feeling" about the economy. The company has not responded to requests from the media since the end of the year.

In other Musk-world news, Musk fired a number of employees linked to a letter critical of his behavior, and in a Q&A session with employees, he said the company needs to get healthy if it wants to continue.
