Vince McMahon Steps Down as Head of W.W.E. During Misconduct Investigation

Vince McMahon has stepped down as chairman and chief executive of World Wrestling Entertainment while the company investigates allegations of improper conduct.

The company said in a statement that McMahon would take over as interim CEO and chairwoman. The company said that Mr. McMahon would remain involved with the W.W.E.'s creative content.

Mr. McMahon said that he would do everything he could to support the investigation. I have promised to accept the findings of the investigation.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Mr. McMahon agreed to pay a secret $3 million settlement to an employee who had an affair with him. There were other nondisclosure agreements involving Mr. McMahon.

The lawyer for Mr. McMahon said that the employee had not made any claims of harassment against him.
