Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech were approved by the FDA on Friday to be used in children as young as six months old.
Moderna's two-dose vaccine for children six months to 17 years and Pfizer's three-dose vaccine for children six months to 4 years of age were approved by the FDA.
Pfizer's vaccine was already available to children and teens while Moderna's wasn't.
According to the FDA, the benefits of Moderna and Pfizer's Covid vaccines outweigh the risks in children.
FDA Commissioner Robert Califf said in a statement that the move will help protect younger children from the most severe outcomes of Covid.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will need to sign off on the vaccine before young children can get it.
The story is evolving and will be updated.
