It has been 10 years since the premiere of the cult favourite series Gravity Falls. To mark the occasion, series creator Alex Hirsch took to social media to share some tidbits from behind the scenes, such as the first take on the Mystery Shack, storyboards from artist Alonso Ramirez Ramos, and ridiculous email exchanges he had with Disney's Standards.

In an almost five-minute video displaying stark white text on a black screen, Hirsch and voice actor Eric Bauza performed dramatic readings of real emails he'd received from Disney. According to the clip, Disney requested numerous changes to Gravity Falls' script due to concerns about everything from ostensibly profanity to references to kissing.

I have a lot of these. I still think about each one.

A three-second clip of a character saying "There one was a man from Kentucky" was posted on his website. He asked to speak to someone in person after a back-and-forth between him and another person.

One of the alterations Disney requested was due to the fact that they were uncomfortable with a gay couple. Their affectionate relationship should stay comical.

Disney had no compunctions including the series in a Pride Month collection on Disney+ despite the company's apparent discomfort with allusions to queerness.

I still have an email that Disney banned me from having LGBTQ characters in Gravity Falls. They're trying to get pride points for this.
