The Country Club's rough is thick enough to make it difficult for the world's best players to lose a golf ball.

When people run off with it.

On the 18th hole in the first round of the U.S. Open, Jon Rahm had a triple bogey. Two kids ran off with his ball after he pulled his tee shot.

"I'm pretty sure I know who it was," he said. Two kids were running in opposite directions with smiles on their faces. I am certain that I saw the two kids that stole it.

He had an unimpeded lane to the 18th green thanks to a free drop. He made the putt after hitting his second shot. He was at 1-under 69 at the end.

"I'm very happy that someone spotted the ball first," he stated. We were sure where it was. I was not worried about it. It was going in a different direction. I was trying to take it over the trees and thebunker.

I had 135 yards to the pin in the area where the rough wasn't as thick. I dropped it in an area that wasn't expected to be hit, because I didn't think anyone would hit it there. I wasn't in danger of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. That wasn't a big deal.
