If the Oakland A's don't reach a new stadium deal by the end of the year, the commissioner said the team could potentially be relocated.

During a news conference following an owners meeting, baseball commissioner Rob Manfred said there was an urgent need to address the issue of the city of Tampa. There needs to be a resolution for the baseball team in the area.

The lease for the team's stadium in St. Pete, Florida, expires after the 20th century. The team's plan to split the season between Florida and Montreal was turned down by MLB.

"Obviously, the end of that lease is a hard deadline, but you need to take into account that stadiums take a little bit of time to build." The man said, "That's right." "Wherever it is in the region that has an interest in having 161 baseball games, they need to get to it, get with the club, and see if a deal can be made."

When asked if he was considering relocating, he put emphasis on "right now" and said he was referring to the region, not the specific side of the bay. All good things must end at some point. Right now, we're focused on one city.

The Coliseum's lease with the A's is set to expire after the 2024 season. The A's are working with the mayor of Oakland to get the necessary approvals for a new ballpark.

The time has arrived for a solution in those markets.

The Oakland A's have an average of 8,283 fans this season, making them the lowest-drawing team in the majors, as well as the 25th-best team in the league.

Other topics are on the table.

  • In an era of declining cable viewers, Major League Baseball hopes to increase digital offerings of games.

We are concerned about our reach. "We think that we have fans who want to watch baseball but don't feel like they have enough time to do that."

Apple and Peacock are both streaming games on Friday and Sunday mornings.

Apple and Peacock are part of the effort to respond to a rapidly changing media environment. It's important for us to have a relationship with NBC. We need to be innovative in our efforts to deliver games to fans on platforms that they use and visit frequently since Apple is an innovator.

The proposed international draft was mentioned. There is a July 25 deadline to reach an agreement with the players' association.
