According to an email obtained by the House committee investigating the Capitol riot, a group of right-wing legal scholars asked for a pardon after the riot.

If that is still in the works, he wants to be put on the pardon list.

Greg Jacob, a lawyer in the Trump administration who worked for former Vice President Mike Pence, said in a deposition that Eastman was aware of Trump's efforts to get him to block the certification.

The Electoral Count Act was violated by the January 6 riot, according to Jacob.

The video of the deposition was briefly shown by the committee.

There is more information about the role that Eastman played in trying to overturn the election results.

Key Background

The third of six hearings planned this month focused on how Trump tried to stop Congress from certifying the election results. Several former White House staffers testified that they opposed the effort to overturn the results. Eric Herschmann said he warned that he would cause riots in the streets if he rejected the will of voters.

Several members of Congress sought pardons after January 6. The accusation has been denied by the man.
