  • The governor said that Florida wouldn't be ordering the vaccine for children under 5.

  • They can be ordered by doctors, hospitals, and community centers.

  • Florida parents will find it harder to find vaccines than other states, according to the White House.

The FDA panel endorsed the Pfizer and Moderna shots for babies and kids under 5, but the state of Florida will not be ordering them.

"There is not going to be any state programs that are going to be trying to get COVID jabs to infants, toddlers, and newborns," the governor said. "That's not something that we think is appropriate, and so that's not where we are going to be using our resources."

The White House believes that the decision by the state of Florida will make it harder for parents to get vaccines for their children.

The White House and Florida health officials wouldn't say how long the delay would be. The vaccines will only be given to children as young as 3 years old at some pharmacies in Florida.

Jean-Pierre said that by being the only state not-pre-ordering, pediatricians in Florida will not have immediate ready access to vaccines. Some pharmacy and community health centers in the state can be accessed through federal distribution channels, but they are not available to parents.

The Miami Herald reported that Florida has pre-ordered the vaccine for children under the age of five. The FDA hasn't authorized the shots for emergency use for children under 5, but the go-ahead is expected this weekend after a review from the CDC.

The vaccines will be available to states that pre-registered.

Florida has gone against federal guidance several times before

The Florida Department of Health has been against giving the vaccine to healthy children. Children with underlying conditions are the best candidates for the vaccine, according to the state.

Moderna's two-dose shot and Pfizer's three-dose shot are safe, effective, and beneficial for children as young as 6 months, according to the experts who advise the FDA.

More than 500 children under the age of 4 have died from COVID in the US, and advanced age is one of the main risk factors. Both contributing and underlying causes of death are factored into the total.

The Florida Department of Health told Insider that states don't need to be involved in the vaccine distribution process. The department doesn't recommend shots for children, so Florida's decision not to participate should come as no surprise.

The department said in an email that there are no orders in the system for the vaccine for this age group.

The state surgeon general is skeptical of vaccines. He told reporters that he wouldn't recommend vaccines for kids younger than 5.

The state's guidance against vaccinations shouldn't be seen as a ban, according to the press conference held by the man.

The state's recommendation is that it's not a good idea. It's different than saying you can't. You are free to make a decision.

Before Ladapo took office, DeSantis had been deviating from federal guidance on the swine flu. He did not allow schools to force workers to bevaccinated as a condition of employment or children to be forced to wear masks. The Special Olympics could face a $27.5 million fine if they don't drop their vaccine mandate.

The actions were met with opposition from the Biden administration. The Supreme Court allowed healthcare employers to mandate vaccinations even though it struck down the Biden administration's weekly vaccine requirement.

The Florida Democratic Party criticized the administration for not ordering vaccine for young children.

Kobie Christian said that it was cruel for Ron and Joseph to deprive parents in Florida of the vaccine option. Children's safety should not be used as a political prop and the vaccine should be made available as soon as possible.

The last group of people to be eligible for the vaccine are children under the age of five.
