The leaders of Germany, Italy, and Romania traveled to Kyiv.
After he said Putin shouldn't be humiliated, the visit came after he was criticized in Ukraine.
During the visit, the European leaders showed their support for the EU.
At a critical juncture in the war with Russia, the presidents of France, Germany, and Italy, as well as the prime minister of Italy, traveled toUkraine on Thursday. It was one of the most high-profile visits of EU leaders to the Ukrainian capital since Russia invaded the country.
"We're here, focused, and we're about to meet President Zelenskyy now to visit a war site where massacres have been committed, and then to lead the conversations that are scheduled with President Zelenskyy," the French president said.

As Ukraine seeks to join the EU, it is asking the West for more military aid in the east of the country. The air raid sirens went off after they arrived.
Questions about Western unity are being raised. In recent months, there has been a lot of criticism for saying that Russian President Vladimir Putin shouldn't be humiliated in Ukraine, which the Ukrainian government interpreted as a call for concessions to Moscow. In the weeks before the French presidential election, Macron tried to stop Russia from entering, and has continued to speak with Putin.
During his May 9 speech, the French President warned Europe to not give in to the temptation of humiliation.
Zelenskyy said that they wouldn't help Putin by paying with our territory. It would not be right.
"We must not humiliate Russia so that the day when the fighting stops we can build an exit ramp through diplomatic means," he said.
"Calls to avoid humiliation of Russia can only humiliate France and every other country that would call for it," said Dmytro Kuleba, the top diplomat in Ukraine. Zelenskyy was meeting with the EU leaders.
Ties between France and Ukraine are not very strong, and this was one of the factors that made the visit awkward. Germany has come under fire recently over the speed of weapons deliveries to Ukraine. One of the aims of the trip was to smooth out the ruffles.
During their visit, the European leaders showed their support for Ukraine.
The status of the immediate candidate for membership is supported by all of us. Germany is in favor of a positive decision in favor of the Ukranian people.
The European Commission is expected to make a recommendation on whether or not to grant EU candidate status to Ukraine in the coming days.
