You're already aware that Amazon makes smart screen devices. Do you know which one is the best? It can be difficult to decide which device to get. We can help you figure out which option is best for your home. We recommend the Echo Show 8 (2nd Gen) above the others because of it's perfect size.

The Echo Show 8 is in the middle of the line. Some of the best features include the high to low end. The smaller size of the Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen) and the larger size of the Echo Show 10 (3rd Gen) make up the difference. Two 2-inch speakers at 10W per channel are better than one 1.7-inch speaker. It has the same display size as the larger Echo Show 10 (3rd Gen) for a higher resolution.

Amazon's renewed interest in consumer privacy led to the creation of the Echo Show 8. The built-in camera shutter and microphone/camera off button allow users to confirm the device is not listening or watching them. The Privacy Hub controls that were introduced in the first show are retained.

The larger Echo Show 10 (3rd Gen) does not include the Zigbee hub integration. Thanks to Amazon's Certified for Humans program, setting up and controlling your smart home devices should be easy. The program promises to introduce "struggling-free, tinker-free, and stress-free" devices that are easy to use and compatible with Amazon's products.

Some tradeoffs are made with this device. The 13MP front-facing camera in the Echo Show 8 (2nd Gen) is perfect for video chatting because it keeps you or the subject in the frame. The display can't follow your gaze because it can't rotation. The audio is a step up from the Show 5, but it doesn't have the same sound quality as the Echo Show 10. We think this will be a great device for most people.

The display is an affordable one.

When the Echo Show 5 was first introduced, it was praised by customers and reviewers for its affordability and ease of use. The Spot was popular, but it didn't have great specifications, and it was too expensive.

Amazon's first smart screen device to include a physical cover and switch to control what it could see and hear was the first of its kind, which alleviated many concerns about having a voice assistant in sensitive areas of the home. The Zigbee hub integration found in the Echo Show 10 (3rd Gen) isn't found in the Echo Show 5. Thanks to the Certified for Humans program, setup will continue to get simpler.

Once it's discounted in one of Amazon's inevitable sales events, the Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen) is almost in that price range where many people will take a chance on an impulse purchase. It's the perfect size for a bedside clock, and now it comes in a gorgeous Deep Sea Blue color.

This little device isn't all roses. It's not the best device for video chatting as it doesn't have a camera on the front and its speakers are the worst on any device.

Amazon has decided to bring the smart display to a younger generation after its successful lineup of kid-focused devices.

The Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen) Kids speaker has a fun color pattern and is packed with age-appropriate content and parental controls. The kids device has the same features as the regular Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen), but with a 2MP camera for video chatting. It has built-in privacy features and also features a physical camera cover.

Kids can ask for help with homework, set alarm, and even read stories to them. You can purchase the speaker on its own or in a bundle with an accessory.

The physical design of the first-generation Echo Show was the main complaint of many people. The product had sharp lines and was set at a weird angle. Amazon made a softer, more plush looking smart display which it kept for a few years. The device's most radical transformation happened in the 3rd Gen.

Since it features the best speakers and screen technology in the entire product line, the Echo Show 10 is a great place to watch videos or listen to music. It's clear that Amazon wanted the device to be featured prominently in people's homes since it also added the best front-facing camera of all the Echo devices.

The Echo Show 10 (3rd Gen)'s motorized display keeps you in the frame and assures that you don't miss anything while you're moving around, it's all made better by that. The motor is silent so it won't make you angry. The speaker setup on the Echo Show 10 (3rd Gen) is the best yet and you will have no problem jamming to your favorite tunes in the kitchen.

Improved smart home device integration is one of the benefits of the third- generation Show. Amazon's new AZ1 Neural Engine allows it to process voice requests and perform innovative motion tracking on the device, resulting in a faster and more secure experience.

Privacy and security implications of a rotating camera were considered by Amazon. There is no facial or person recognition and all tracking is done on the device. The device also has a physical button that you can press if you want to stop the motion tracking.

The size and price of the Echo Show 10 are the most significant drawbacks. It's more expensive than the Echo Show 8 and has one of the largest footprints of any smart speaker.

Amazon Echo Show 15 showing widgets like weather and notes

The Amazon Echo Show 15 is the largest screen yet with a 15.6-inch display and is being marketed as the perfect organization tool for families. The Echo Show 15 is a great place to manage smart home devices, calendars, and shopping lists. There is an added bonus. All of these features can be controlled by both touch and Amazon's voice assistant.

The Echo Show 15 is Amazon's best smart photo frame to date because it is five inches larger than the Echo Show 10 and can be mounted in both portrait and landscape modes.

The introduction ofwidgets provides a number of shortcut to tools such as Shopping List, Maps, Sticky Notes, To-Do List, Weather, and more. It's easier to navigate dinner time when you have access to delivery options from Domino's, Whole Food Market, Amazon Fresh, and Blue Apron. You can access recipes from apps such as Tasty and Allrecipes if you want to be more adventurous in the kitchen.

The first device to support full HD streaming on most major streaming services is the Echo Show 15, but it lacks support for other services. You'll be able to listen to your favorite music via Amazon Music, Apple Music, and the picture-in-picture feature. The Echo Show 15's two 1.6-inch rear-firing speakers are still more than adequate for daily use, even though they aren't much better than those on previous devices.

Amazon's latest device's camera and image quality seemed to fall short of the Show 10 (3rd Gen) and Show 8 (2nd Gen), both of which have a 13MP camera with auto-framing. The show has a 5MP sensor. We're hoping that Amazon will make improvements to the software over time.

If you're looking for a good-sized, multi-functional smart display that's easy to navigate and won't be used often for video calling, the Echo Show 15 is a good choice.

Amazon Fire HD 8 Plus Show Mode

(Image credit: Jeramy Johnson / Android Central)

The Fire HD 8 Plus isn't actually an echo show device. When you consider the whole package this setup offers, it's probably the most practical alternative for Amazon homes.

The Fire HD 8 Plus has the best screen, battery life, and wireless charging of any tablets on the market. You can do a lot of the things that you can do on other tablets, such as read books and comics, watch all manner of video content, play games, and even have video calls through the internet.

You can set the Fire HD 8 to Show Mode when you add the wireless charging dock to the device. Even from across a room, you can control your smart home with hands-free voice control.

This setup gives you more flexibility than a traditional device, but it comes at a premium. The price with the charging stand is much higher than the price with the Echo Show 8.

Amazon realized it was onto something when it created the first product in the line, and each subsequent generation and product in the line has improved where it counts. The quality of the microphones, speakers, and screens continue to improve, and there is now an echo show to fit just about any space and budget. The Echo Show 8 (2nd Gen) is the best choice for most people because it makes the right tradeoffs when it comes to size and price.

The smallerEcho Show 5 and largerEcho Show 10 are great products in their own right. Some people may want to get an echo show 10 for the main room in their home, and an echo show 5 for the office or bedroom.

You will love these devices if you're already in the system. You might want to think about the latest Amazon show. The Echo Show 15 is five inches larger than the Echo Show 10.

It's worth pointing out that the newer device can be mounted on a wall in portrait or landscape mode and can recognize family members and pull up relevant content. The Echo Show 15 is Amazon's best smart photo frame to date, even though it lacks the built-in camera and speakers.

If you haven't already taken the plunge, any of these smart screens is a good place to start.
