The letter was shared with many employees in an internal chat. It is not known how many employees have signed the letter. The letter stated that employees across the spectrum of gender, ethnicity, seniority, and technical roles collaborated on it.
The company's "No Asshole" and "Zero Tolerance" policies address behavior that is deemed inappropriate.
Musk is well-known for his antics on the social networking site. In recent months, the SpaceX CEO has done everything from publicly decry the Democratic party to announce on social media that the party would launch a campaign against him.
The richest man in the world was notified that Insider was going to publish a report that he paid $250,000 to a flight attendant who accused him of sexual harassment. At the time, Musk told Insider that there was a lot more to the story, but later joked about it on the social networking site.
He told Insider that if he were to engage in sexual harassment it would be the first time in his entire career that it came to light.
Shotwell expressed her support for her boss in a companywide email when the allegations were first reported.
According to the letter, the company could censure Musk's behavior, hold all leadership equally accountable, and more clearly define and enforce "No Asshole" and "Zero Tolerance"
