The events of January 6 were a well-developed plan from Trump to overturn the election at any cost, according to a Republican who advised the former vice president.

According to CBS News, Luttig will testify that he advised Pence to resist Trump's order to block the congressional certification of the election.

If the U.S. had listened to Trump, there would have been a revolution in the constitution.

The threat to democracy still exists because of Trump's claims that the next election will not be "stolen" from him, and he condemned the members of the Republican party who repeat Trump's pledge.

According to the statement obtained by CNN, Trump and his supporters set about to overturn the election that he and the former president did not win. The plan was more ambitious than stealing America's democracy.

What To Watch For

According to the committee's vice chair, Greg Jacob is set to testify at the hearing, which will focus on Trump's "illegal" attempt to pressure Pence to block the counting of electoral votes in Congress. The hearing is expected to start at 1 p.m.

As Trump's legal team drafted a two-page memo on how Pence could block the certification of the election, his lawyers and aides reached out to Luttig for advice. The constitution doesn't allow the vice president to overturn an election. The letter explained why he would certify the results of the election as decided by American voters. The January 6 committee held two hearings on the Capitol riot and will hold at least five more over the next few weeks.

The hearing shows rioters repeating Trump's baseless election claims.

Riot defendants say Trump asked them to storm the Capitol.

The next committee hearings will take place on January 6.
