  • The value of the company comes down to the question of self- driving, according to Musk.

  • Without the tech, the company would be worthless.

  • Since 2015, he's promised self-driving cars, but his company has had trouble with its software

Musk said that the firm would be worth nothing without self- driving technology.

The in-car web browser is one of the software issues that the billionaire wants to fix.

In an interview with the "Tesla Owners Silicon Valley," Musk said that the focus was on self- driving.

That's important. He said that it was the difference between a lot of money and zero.

In 2015, Musk predicted that self- driving cars would be on the road in three years.

Though the function still requires driver supervision, the autopilot feature allows its cars to automatically adjust their speeds and steer within their lanes.

The "Full Self-Driving" service is available for a one-time fee of $12,000 or a subscription of $199 per month, and it allows the car to change lanes, recognize stop signs, and park. Full driver attention is still required in the car.

At the end of the year, Musk said he was certain that the cars would be able to find you in a parking lot, pick you up, and take you all the way to your destination.

He said that was not a question mark.

It's not clear when the self-driving technology will be officially launched. During the Q4 earnings call in January, Musk promised that by the end of the year, his cars would be completely self-sufficient.

The company's shares are worth less than they were at their January peak. The market value of the company is $7 24 billion.
