According to Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc., there has been a release.
After teasing a big story regarding a release, Giri followed up by saying that he's heard that Sasha Banks has been released. I don't know if it was requested by him or if it was on the wrestling side.
The company did not reply to the request. If and when it does, this article will be changed.
The relationship between Banks and the company deteriorated last month when Banks and Naomi walked out on the show. Naomi and Banks have remained silent on the matter, aside from a few cryptic statements.
In an interview with WrestleTalk, Banks admitted that she was denied a request by Vince McMahon to be released in 2019.
Banks said that he was not giving his best.
If I am not giving my best then I have to find something else. I feel like I'm not feeling good because I want to be No. 1.
I needed to take a break and I did everything I could. Vince told me that I wouldn't be getting that release. On both sides, that was a great decision. He is kind and gentle and he knows what he sees. He was aware of what I needed at the end of the day.
The end may be near for one of the top stars and pioneers of its women's revolution after Banks walked out on Raw. Banks has won every women's singles title in the company with the exception of the Women's Tag Team Championships, which were established after she left the company. The accomplishments of this nature have been watered down over the years, but they are still a testament to how ingrained Banks was in the main event picture.
Banks and Naomi were informed of their participation in the main event of Monday night's Raw when they arrived at the arena.
They walked into the head of talent relations office with their suitcases in hand and put their belts on his desk.
They said they weren't respected enough as title holders. Even though they had eight hours to rehearse and construct their match, they claimed they were uncomfortable in the ring with two of their opponents even though they'd had matches with them before. The characters on Monday Night Raw are expected to fulfill their contractual obligations.
We regret we weren't able to deliver as advertised.
Michael Cole doubled down on comments he made on the show.
She should be free to compete elsewhere by mid-September if Banks is released. During Banks' 90-day non-compete period, AEW All Out will likely take place on September 4.
It's not known what Naomi's future will be if Banks leaves the company. Sarath Ton works with WWE as a costume designer and Banks is a clean break for the company. Jimmy Uso, Naomi's husband, is one-third of the top act in WWE and she is cousins with a top wrestler. Naomi's situation may be more lightly handled by the wrestling organization.
Even if she never wrestles again, Banks will still have a hall of fame career even if she never wrestles again. After admitting that she was broke during her sabbatical, Banks has advocated for mental health. She might have had to part ways with the company in order to be safe.
