Vince McMahon made a payment to a former employee.
On Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal reported on the investigation.
According to the Journal, there were other agreements with women who claimed to have been mistreated.
The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday that the board of the company is looking into payments CEO Vince McMahon made to female employees, some of whom claimed that they had been mistreated by McMahon.
According to The Journal, the board received a tip that McMahon was having an affair with a female employee and that she was paid $3 million to leave. The employee was not allowed to discuss the affair at the time.
The former paralegal's relationship with McMahon was consensual and the company was cooperating during the investigation.
McMahon's attorney told the Journal that the paralegal hadn't claimed any harassment against McMahon and that "WWE did not pay any money to her."
According to the Journal, the board's investigation found old nondisclosure agreements with other former female employees worth millions of dollars, after they made allegations against McMahon and John.
According to the Journal, the World Wrestling Entertainment board hired an outside law firm to investigate. Insider didn't hear back after reaching out to the firm.
McMahon's daughter announced last month that she would be taking a leave of absence from most of her responsibilities at the company to focus on her family.
It was reported earlier this month that McMahon would be replaced as part of a leadership shakeup and larger goal to grow the company's sponsorship deals.
