Ron Rivera said that the team is not going to trade its top wideout just because nothing has been signed.

The first two days of Washington's mandatory mini camp were missing McLaurin. He didn't attend the voluntary workouts over the last three weeks. The rookies contract ends after the season. He wants a new deal in line with what other top players have gotten.

Rivera said that the team has been talking to the representatives of McLaurin for the past week and that hopefully it will be resolved soon. How long do you think it will take? I'm not sure. I can assure you that it is not contentious. We are pretty sure that at some point this will get done.

Rivera said that Terry was not being traded. We believe in who Terry is and what he can do.

After trading for A.J. Brown, the Philadelphia Eagles signed him to a four-year extension. Brown was drafted by the TennesseeTitans in the first round. The base salary for McLaurin is more than $2 million.

Some of the wide receivers picked in the draft, such as Deebo Samuel, are seeking contract extensions but are taking different approaches with their teams' minicamps last week. Samuel, who requested a trade earlier this year, attended the San Francisco 49ers mini camp.

Even if he wasn't going to work out, Washington wanted him to be a team leader. The Commanders want him to develop a relationship with the new quarterback, who he hasn't worked out with yet.

Washington is going to have a practice Thursday. A player who misses all three days of mini camp could be fined nearly $100,000.
