Anthony Fauci, the disease expert who helped lead America's pandemic response, tests positive for COVID-19

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases said that Dr. Fauci had tested positive.

The agency said that Fauci, who is the nation's top infectious disease expert and leads the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is currently experiencing mild symptoms after receiving two vaccinations.

Fauci was appointed director of NIAD in 1984 and will remain at home. He is the medical advisor to the president.

Fauci is an advisor to the federal government on its response to the Pandemic.

Fauci said in April that the United States was transitioning out of the full-on outbreak phase of the Pandemic and into an era where people are starting to learn to live with the virus.
