Pixar'sTurning Red is an homage to girlhood. In Domee Shi's animated coming-of-age film, there is a touching portrayal of female strength and perseverance, as well as a complex bond between women of different age groups. As our 13-year-old Chinese Canadian hero,Mei Lee, grapples with growing pains that transform her into a giant red panda, she constantly has women by her side: her anxious mother, her girl gang, and her many out-of-town friends.
Jin Lee is the father of the woman in the film. Jin is affirming even at first sight. He's the apple of the internet's eye, where he's still being championed online as a fan of Pixar and Turning Red.
Since the release of Turning Red, the internet has declared its admiration for Jin, a person who isn't a main character. Fans continue to praise and celebrate Jin for being a fan of 4*Town and his family.
Jin is a big fan of cooking. Jin is making a delicious dinner for his family when we first meet him. The fogged up glasses gave us a split second impression of a frightened figure. He wipes his glasses and smiles as his family watches a Chinese soap opera.
The cooking scene in itself caused a huge fan frenzy, with dozens of TikTok and YouTube edits. One TikTok has over 2.5 million views and features a chef replicating a meal. The Jin character's cooking skills are just the beginning.

Videos show Jin's bewildered and fearful expressions, as well as his secret dumpling-eating. Comments like "I'm in love with this goofy little man" and "he's my favorite character" are included in fan edits. He is praised for his parenting skills and emotional presence on social media. In the credits scene of Turning Red, Jin danced to 4*Town in their basement, which quickly became a TikTok craze.
Jin's character profile on a Turning Red page shows people pronouncing him the best Pixar dad. The Pixar father has had moments. It used to be that Mr. Incredible was praised even though he kept his family out of his secret job, or that the father in Inside Out was praised for allowing his child to grow up.
Jin's ability to be a father to a daughter undergoing massive transformation has placed him in good stead.
The internet fell hard for Jin.
The voice of Jin in the film says it comes down to his devotion to his family.

Jin's character is based on acceptance and embracing all sides of being a human, according to Lee. His nature is compatible with his wife's. Lee says that Ming expresses love through discipline, confidence, rules, and certainty. Lee says he was able to form a deeper connection to Jin's humanity, and playing him was a dream come true.
"For me, there’s a history of a guy who was shy when he was younger. He enjoyed cooking and found that was the way he expressed his artistic self."

At a time when both the women in his life are grappling with changes, Jin offers unparalleled support. At the Lee family's temple, he holds his daughter's furry paw as she learns about the panda within her, and he holds her hand when she knits her eyebrows together. "Maybe we should trust her," he said as she begged to see her favorite band perform. On the night of the Red Moon, Jin and his wife stood by each other.
The majority of these moments are subtle, but they are more powerful than a monologue. In a film where there was so much to love, Jin's heart stood apart.

It is a movie that should be seen by everyone. I have seen it five times. The film is not only for teenage girls grappling with the wonders and trials of emerging adulthood, but also for families, new parents, friends, music-lovers, and anyone longing for the distinctive aesthetic of the 2000s Critics and audiences agree that the Pixar film deftly, colorfully, and lovingly handled universal themes, playing in a bright playground of nostalgia and fandom, and leaning on its greatest asset: flawed, earnest, and truly personable characters.
Jin is a testament to the universality and thoughtfulness of the film. On the night of the ritual, I believe, he shines the most. Jin praised his wife's strength and explained to his daughter that people are complex.
People have a lot of different opinions of them. Some sides are dirty. The point is to make room for it. Live with it.
He gave the power of acceptance to his daughter and paved the way for her to do the same for her mother. Jin's approach to parenthood and personhood is one for observation. Social media seems to think so.
