The new M2 MacBook Air is so thin it's hard to tell. Numbers don't do it justice. You might not know how thin this is unless you hold it in your hands. This isn't the lightest laptop ever made, because it isn't.

There are a couple that exist, but they aren't like one-to-one comparisons.
As far as I have been able to determine, the lightest laptop of all time is the one made by the South Korean company, SAMSUNG. It has a thickness of just 0.29 inches. In the photo, you can see that it is large enough to fit in a jack for a headphones and a port for a computer. It was one of the lightest laptops you could buy in 2020.
The 13-inch laptop is very small and well built. It is a Chromebooks. The laptop hasn't been updated in the last two years. It was a thicker and more budget-friendly laptop that the company chose torelease in 2021. I don't know whether or not we'll ever see a true update to the original device, but I hope we see a reuse of this style of enclosure, because it feels ahead of its time.
The Swift 7 was the laptop that was the champion of thinness for a long time. This one is the same thickness as the one in the picture. One of the lightest laptops you can buy is it. The M2 MacBook Air is almost three times heavier than that.
The M2 MacBook Air isn't out of the water because of the two measurements. The Swift 7 had a number of compromises, including an awkward keyboard and a weirdWebcam.
The bigger issue? This model hasn't been updated in a long time. Since it still uses an old 8th-gen Intel processor, it's not likely to be a good laptop to buy in the future.
I don't know if the Swift 7 will be updated, but it seems like it's taken a break from the design
There aren't many laptops that are as thin as the M2 MacBook Air. There is a half-inch mark around where some of the other laptops fall. On the Windows side of things, there are options such as the new Dell XPS 13 that come in at.8 inches thick.
The Surface Laptop 4 is a bit larger than the XPS 13 at.7 inches. Both the Zenbook S 13 Flip and the ExpertBook B9 fall into the same size.
The Surface Pro is technically thinner. The thickness of the Surface Pro 8 is only 0.37 inches, but you can add the keyboard to make it even thinner.
The M2 MacBook Air is likely in its own league, but it is possible that I overlooked some laptop here or there. Windows laptops have some catching up to do.
