Users are getting a severe case of deja-vu because of the repeated stories on the social media platform. Whenever users post a new Story, their friends see that photo or video before they move on to the next person's Story or back out. Thanks to numerous complaints on social media, users are reporting a bug that causes Instagram to show them the same Stories every time their friends post a new one.

A friend of mine posted 17 stories in the last 23 hours and then posted another one. I should only see the most recent story when I use the story icon. The first 17 stories I read between this morning and the time that I am writing this were replays.

Some users have complained about the endless loop of stories on the photo sharing service. Carl's Jr. contributed to the discourse with a picture of its mascot crying and kicking as he watched everyone's Stories from the beginning.

A glitch that came with a new update is said to be the root of the problem. The bug in the app causes it to not remember where users left off in their Stories so they start from square one. Some users said they were able to fix the problem by uninstalling the app, while others said they couldn't.

The Story loop bug coincides with the introduction of new parental control features forInstagram to regulate teens' time on the photo sharing site and protect their digital well-being. It's obvious that something isn't working as intended if the stories repeating bug is tied to the new controls

It is not known how many people are affected by the bug. The company is aware that some people are having trouble accessing their stories and is working on a solution. Don't be surprised if your stories keep repeating for a little while longer.
