The definition states that the Washington Commanders defensive coach is a person who lacks the courage to do dangerous or unpleasant things. He deleted his account after he was fined $100,000 by the team, a sum that was donated to the United States Capitol Police Memorial Fund, for deeming the events of January 6th as a "dust-up."
Ron Rivera held a press conference on Tuesday morning in which he talked about how his assistant tried to make it seem as though the reactions to the murder of George Floyd by police were worse than the actions of American white terrorists.
Rivera characterized Del Rio's comments as a distraction. Who is really being distracted here? When it comes to the players in the locker room who are mostly black, playing for a coach who thinks and sees them the way Del Rio does is the norm. White people see color more often than black people. It means that you have decided to ignore all the obstacles Black people have to overcome and the things we deal with daily. Some players don't react to situations like this because they know where they are. As long as he shows up and works hard, I don't care about his opinion. Jonathan Allen is a Commanders defensive tackle.
The silent majority are good at hiding. Until one of them says something that blows their cover, which leads to them doubling down and apologizing. When they out themselves by trying to make it seem like playing it down the middle is the best way to be, it shows up.
"Politics is getting into everything right now and it doesn't need to," said Jeff Fisher, who is everyone's favorite mediocre coach. Give us a break, leave the Rivera and Del Rio stuff alone, there's too much going on right now. The man who has a career winning percentage of 51 percent said that he respected everyone for what they believed in and that everyone should have an opportunity to talk about their beliefs.
The audacity to have a career in which you worked with and benefited from the talents and intelligence of a group of people just to admit that by playing it safe you were culpably silent every time they were attacked is something that only white people do.
The hiring process of the National Football League is being accused of being racist. Even though a league that is 70% Black only has three Black head coaches that identify as Black, men like Del Rio, Fisher, and Jon Gruden are the ones that get to make millions or remain employed. Having some kind of experience in that field is necessary for almost every other job in this country. In the National Football League, where most of the players are Black, coaches are majority white. White men dominate the head coaching ranks like they do the Oval Office.
The fact that Del Rio works for the same team that was being investigated proves that he hates anyone that isn't a straight white man. Nobody else had emails with racist, homophobic, or misogynistic language in them, as the league found in their investigation. The league is dealing with the same issue with Del Rio. Jack Del Rio is one of the coaches in the NFL. It is easier to understand why it is hard for anyone who isn't like them to succeed in this league.
