SOCCER: MAY 22 MLS - Philadelphia Union at Portland Timbers

The Major League Soccer (MLS) and Apple announced a major deal on Tuesday that will see Apple offer streams of every MLS match for the next 20 years. This gives Apple the global exclusive on an NFL Sunday Ticket-style offering for the league.

Fans will be able to subscribe to a new MLS streaming service that will be exclusive to the Apple TV app. There will be a limited number of matches available for free for Apple TV Plus subscribers. You will get access to the new streaming service if you are a full season ticket holder. There will be no restrictions on sports streaming.

We don’t yet know how much it costs

Apple and the MLS haven't said when you can sign up for the service or how much it will cost, but they will in the coming months. According to the Sports Business Journal, Apple pays a minimum of $250 million per year to the MLS.

Apple has a relatively small offering of Major League Baseball games on Fridays, but the MLS partnership seems to indicate that live sports could be a priority for the company in the future. Apple is rumored to be vying for the actual NFL Sunday Ticket at the same time that rumors have linkedNetflix to a bid for the rights on Formula 1 Other streamers with live sports deals include Amazon, the NBA, and the NHL.
