Tam Courts has left Dundee United to pursue other options, according to sporting director Tony Asghar
Tam Courts was only in charge at Dundee United for 12 months, securing European football for the club for the first time since 2012

The departure of the head coach was announced by the two parties.

Courts was in charge of United for a year and led them to fourth place in the Scottish league and a place in the conference league.

Tony Asghar is the sporting director.

Courts was hired as the club's head of tactical performance before he became the new manager.

We made a brave appointment by promoting from within, but it was a calculated risk that paid off.

We qualified for Europe due to our success on the field. The culture we have created throughout the club is shown in this example.

The long-term strategy to develop some of the best young talent in Scotland was bought into byTam.

Mark Ogren said last month that Courts would not be held back if he received a large offer.

It's not an easy decision to leave the club, but I believe my time there has helped me grow and develop immensely, both personally and professionally, and I feel ready for my next challenge.

"We had to look after the best interests of the club as it became clear that he was keen to pursue other options."

We mutually terminated his contract to give him time to find a new job.

He leaves with our best wishes, but I want to assure fans that the club is moving quickly to find a new head coach. We are going to make a further announcement on this in the coming days.
