Scientists affiliated with a major research institution make claims about a potential first contact with an extraterrestrial civilization on a daily basis.
Science and Technology Daily, the official newspaper of China's Ministry of Science and Technology, reported that a team of Chinese scientists had found suspicious signals that could indicate an extraterrestrial civilization.
"The possibility that a suspicious signal is some kind of radio interference is very high, and it needs to be further confirmed and ruled out, which can be a long process," according to the paper.
The Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST), which is located in southwest China, is the biggest of its kind in the world.
The researchers pointed out that there may be simpler explanations for the signals. We have yet to see a scientific paper and a peer review so we should take these statements with a grain of salt.
Andrew Jones, a SpaceNews journalist, said don't get too excited.
The Arecibo Observatory was a former radio telescope that was used to look for signs of intelligent life in the past. It is able to accept signals from a wide swath of the sky thanks to its 19-beam receiver.
The FAST telescope will look for suspicious signals that have already been found.
The team is excited about the chance to confirm or reject the discovery.
The first to confirm the existence of extraterrestrial civilization will be theFAST telescope.
A packed schedule could make it difficult for the team to confirm we've actually made first contact.
"We don't have time to identify it, but we believe the signals are likely alien origin, but we don't have time to do that," said a researcher at the National Astronomy Observatory.
There may be as many as four evil civilization in our universe.
