Spears pumps the brakes on Hill's Mahomes-Tua comparison (2:18)

Tua Tagovailoa is more accurate than Patrick. There is a time and a place for it.

Hill is an All-Pro wide receiver and the highest-paid receiver in the history of the league. Tua Tagovailoa may be his most vocal supporter.

The Miami Dolphins quarterback was compared to his former teammate in Kansas City by Hill.

"Obviously, I'm going to go with 15 as the strongest arm but as far as accuracy-wise, I'm going with Tua all day," Hill said.

Hill supports his new teammate but how much of that is true?

The league's fifth-best QBR was owned by Mahomes, while Tagovailoa was 18th-best. Tagovailoa's completion percentage was better than that of Mahomes.

Hill's statement that the Dolphins' quarterback is the more accurate passer is supported by Tagovailoa's completion percentage over expectation.

The third-year quarterback has been criticized for his ability to push the ball down the field. Last season, Tagovailoa was the most accurate passer in the league, connecting on 50% of his attempts.

He attempted the second-fewest of such passes at the same time.

He told the magazine that he has seen improvements in being able to push the ball down the field. It's just practice. I wasn't able to push the ball down the field because we didn't have plays that would push the ball down the field. A lot of plays were intended for one person. The play may be dead or open.

It is a bit different now. My second year was different than my first, and this year will be different as well. I feel more confident pushing the ball down the field. It is going to be great.
