The Atlanta Braves announced that second baseman Ozzie Albies fractured his left foot in Monday's game against the WashingtonNationals.

As the ball left the bat, the veteran hobbled a step down the first- base line before falling to the ground in pain.

He hopped on his right foot down the stairs and into the Braves' locker room after sitting up and looking at the injured foot. At second base, he was replaced by Arcia.

At the time of the injury, Albies was 0 for 2 with a run scored and a walk. Arcia was the first person to hit the ball.

The defending world champion are getting back on track. The Braves entered Monday's game on an 11-game winning streak, which vaulted them into second place in the National League East.

In the series opener against Washington, Albies had over 200 at-bats with eight home runs.

Albies won a Silver Slugger award in both of the last two years. Albies made two All-Star Game appearances and was the National League's leader in assists last season.

The game in Washington was delayed due to rain. Erasmo Ramirez was given a spot start over Josiah Gray after the delay.
