A former Trump campaign advisor and Donald Trump Jr.'s fiancée was paid $60,000 by the former president's "official election defense fund" to speak at his January 6, 2021, rally at the Ellips.
The findings of the House select committee investigating the January 6 Capitol riot were made public on Monday.
Guilfoyle was paid to give the introduction at the speech. She was paid $60,000 for two and a half minutes.
After the November 3, 2020 election, the Trump campaign called on supporters to donate to an "official election defense fund" that it claimed would help Trump's team pursue legal challenges to overturn the result. According to financial disclosures, Trump raised more than $250 million in the two months after the election.
Lofgren argued that Trump lied to his supporters and encouraged them to storm the Capitol.
The people were deceived by the former president. They were tricked into thinking that the election had been stolen and that they should go to the Capitol.
She said that the people were not rich. The president tricked them. It was both a lie and a ripoff.
Lofgren questioned the legality and ethics of Trump's raising money off of false election claims.
The January 6 panel is a legislative committee and does not handle criminal proceedings.

Guilfoyle appeared at a "Save America" rally near the White House in January of 2021. She introduced Donald Trump Jr to the crowd.
"Look at all of us out here, God-loving, freedom-loving, liberty-loving patriots that will not allow them to steal this election," Guilfoyle said. President Trump has been the most significant president in the country's history.
On April 18 the panel met with Guilfoyle. The committee is holding a number of public hearings this month.
