There are new character posters and a new television spot for Taika Waititi's THOR: LOVE AND THUD, as well as tickets for the movie. I don't know why a couple of goats got character posters, but I think it's the same thing as when Goose the Cat got his own poster for the movie. In the television spot, it is argued that there is a chance that theGuardians of theGalaxy won't just be in the film.
Jodie Foster's name-checking is random. Foster was my favorite actress when I was a kid. I don't object to her getting paid a lot of money to be goofy while looking great. Foster is going to be part of the MCU. All presumptions are that this fourth movie will open with at least $150 million. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is not expected to have major status-quo shifts or multiverse-bending appearances.
It has an advantage over Sam Raimi's Doctor Strange sequel because it's a sequel to a film that even people who aren't obsessed with the MCU like. It will pull people who just want to see another Waititi- directed movie. The early July releases tend to be legier than the early summer releases. Spider-Man: Homecoming opened with $117 million, dropped a then-record 62% in weekend two but legged out to $334 million domestic and $881 million global, since there were no big live-action kid-friendly flicks between it andThor: Ragnark.
Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation is the only other kid-skewing summer tentpole after Fantastic Four and Pixels failed to live up to expectations. The film pulled $216 million from a $75 million debut, despite a crowded mid- summer slate. It is worth noting that there are no big live-action kid flicks between the re-release of the movie and the new one. Bullet Train, Beast, Three Thousand Years of Longing, The Woman King, and Don't worry darling are all adult-skewing films.
It will be because it's crowdpleasing enough survive any "Rangorak was better!" critical chatter and will have next to it. If it opens closer to $150 million than $200 million, I would expect a weekend-to- final multiplier of around 3%. On its debut weekend, everything left on the slate would be thrilled to make money. We are waiting.
