Mary Barra, the CEO of GM, just showed off the upcoming Blazer EV. The styling is great, but I wish General GM made the off-roader blazer from the ’70s and ’80s.

There is a first look at the vehicle. The Chevy will be available for sale in the Spring of 2023, when it will be unveiled at an event.

There are several design elements in the picture. The vehicle has a high performance trim level and the ultra-thin tires seem to indicate it. The headlights to the taillights are different from the gas-powered ones on the market. The grill-spanning lighting scheme found on the Chevy Silverado EV seems to suggest that it will be a unified design element across the Chevy EV offerings.

GM's Ultium EV platform will be used to build the Blazer EV. The platform used from the Hummer EV to the Cadillac Lyriq is the same one. The unified platform will allow the company to quickly scale up the production of electric vehicles.

General Motor's electric lineup is likely to include the blazer EV. The gas-powered variant is already among GM's top selling vehicles, and it's well-equipped and competitively priced. The 1969 Chevy K5 Blazer is Chevy's answer to the Ford Bronco and is well known.

The pricing will be important here. The SS trim is expected to be expensive and positioned as a halo product to get people's attention. Most of the range will be offered by a less expensive option that is less fast than other EV's.
