Mehmet Oz promised to fight to end illegal immigration should he be elected to the Senate despite the fact that his family's business faced a record-breaking fine from ICE.

Oz said he would fight to end illegal immigration and soft-on-crime policies.

The former heart surgeon turned-TV personality turned- Trump-endorsed politician faced backlash from users who called Oz a liar and shared stories about a fine levied against a business started by his wife Lisa's grandfather.

A six-year investigation and audit by US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement revealed a systemic effort to hire unauthorized workers for the tree-pruning company that Oz is listed as a shareholder in.

According to an ICE press release, "Asplundh Tree Experts, Co., one of the largest privately-held companies in the US, pleaded guilty today to unlawfully employing aliens."

The company was sentenced to pay forfeiture in the amount of 80 million dollars and an additional 15 million dollars to satisfy civil claims arising out of their failure to comply with immigration law, which was the largest payment ever levied.

The campaign spokeswoman told The New York Post that neither Dr. Oz nor Lisa Oz have ever worked at the company. The company reached a civil settlement with the federal government. The company is owned by Dr. Oz and Lisa Oz as well as many other family members. Dr. Oz and Lisa Oz were not involved in the settlement.

The campaign of Dr. Oz did not reply to the request for comment.
