The starting pitcher for Boston was placed on the injured list.
It was done retroactive to June 9.
The pitcher is 4-2 with a 3.16 earned run and 72 strikeouts this season. In his past two starts, the right-handed pitcher hasn't allowed a run and he did it in Boston's win over the Los Angeles Angels.
He is the second member of the Red Sox's rotation to be put on the injured list. The team placed the pitcher on the injured list because of inflammation of his hip. retroactive to June 9
Boston altered its rotation to give him more time to recover. Nick Pivetta will be the starting pitcher for Tuesday's opener.
Crawford was called up from Triple-A on Sunday to fill the open spot on the major league roster.
